CWTe research is organized through our research programs.
Each research program has a roadmap detailing the vision that provides the focus for our research as well as the succession of projects that investigate and develop the technologies towards this vision and the intermediate results that we expect from them. The roadmap is aligned and updated with our strategic partners in semi-annual program board meetings, in which we also define, start, and monitor the individual projects in each program.
Anybody who is interested in having a topic investigated through one of our research projects can contact the CWTe director, Sonia Heemstra de Groot, to check whether it fits into an existing program and/or whether a specific project can be organized to cater to this interest. Depending on the nature of the research, the timeframe and the amount of effort, projects can be implemented in several ways:
as student internship(s), typically 3 months, at the university or in your organization
as student graduation project(s), typically 9 months, at the university or in your organization
as PDEng project(s), typically 2 years (with 15 months of net project time), usually in your organization
as PhD project(s), typically 4 years, usually at the university
as staff project(s) or staff detachments, which can take just about any form
or any combination of the above. Since the PDEng, PhD and staff members are university employees, these type of projects involve costs that will have to be covered by your organization and/or a (government or EU) subsidy program.
